چکیده
The performances of absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs) in four widely used finite difference time domain (FDTD) methods, i.e. explicit, implicit, explicit staggered-time, and Chebyshev methods, for solving the time-dependent Schr dinger equation are assessed and compared. The computation efficiency for each approach is also evaluated. A typical evolution problem of a single Gaussian wave packet is chosen to demonstrate the performances of the four methods combined with ABCs. It is found that ABCs perfectly eliminate reflection in implicit and explicit staggered-time methods. However, small reflection still exists in explicit and Chebyshev methods even though ABCs are applied.

Local Absorbing Boundary Conditions for a Finite Element Discretization of the Cubic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation
We consider in this work the initial value problem for the one dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In order to integrate it numerically, one option frequently used, is to impose local absorbing boundary conditions. A finite element discretization in space of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation is considered along with the absorbing boundary conditions obtained for an analogou...
متن کاملA Local Strong form Meshless Method for Solving 2D time-Dependent Schrödinger Equations
This paper deals with the numerical solutions of the 2D time dependent Schr¨odinger equations by using a local strong form meshless method. The time variable is discretized by a finite difference scheme. Then, in the resultant elliptic type PDEs, special variable is discretized with a local radial basis function (RBF) methods for which the PDE operator is also imposed in the local matrices. Des...
متن کاملAbsorbing Boundary Conditions for the Schrödinger Equation
A large number of differential equation problems which admit traveling waves are usually defined on very large or infinite domains. To numerically solve these problems on smaller subdomains of the original domain, artificial boundary conditions must be defined for these subdomains. One type of artificial boundary condition which can minimize the size of such subdomains is the absorbing boundary...

This paper addresses the construction of different families of absorbing boundary conditions for the oneand two-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a general variable nonlinear potential. Various semi-discrete time schemes are built for the associated initial boundary value problems. Finally, some numerical simulations give a comparison of the various absorbing boundary conditions and associa...

In this paper we study of collocation method with Radial Basis Function to solve one dimensional time dependent Schrodinger equation in an unbounded domain. To this end, we introduce artificial boundaries and reduce the original problem to an initial boundary value problem in a bounded domain with transparent boundary conditions that involves half order fractional derivative in t. Then in three...
